Link Road update

At its meeting on 12 June, the Cheshire East Council Cabinet will consider a decision to proceed with the construction of the Congleton Link Road. The Cabinet decision will:

  • Select a Contractor to build the Congleton Link Road
  • Approve the submission of the Final Business Case to Government to unlock £45M of funding towards the Scheme

If these are agreed, and if the Government gives its approval of the Final Business Case (expected in mid-August), the main works & sod cutting will commence in January 2019 — although some limited advance works such as Ground investigations will commence in late Summer 2018.

The total scheme cost is expected to be just under £90M, with the funding split as follows:

  • £24m CEC
  • £c21m Developer funding
  • £c45 Department for Transport

The scheme remains on track to be open to traffic in Winter 2020
