United Utilities have submitted an immediate works permit to carry out an emergency road closure on Watery Lane, Congleton. The closure is likely to last from today, Friday 14 January, to Thursday 20 January.

We do not yet know the reason or extent of the closure, or any proposed diversion route: this notice will be updated when we receive further information.

For more details see

A reminder that Wallhill Lane will be closed from 17 January to 11 March 2022, though the closure may be extended of the works meet any delay.

The closure is necessary to install a culvert tunnel under Wallhill Lane which forms part of Sibelco’s new quarry extension at Holford Farm. This will enable the transfer of sand via conveyor underneath Wallhill Lane to theit existing plant site at Bent Farm Quarry.

The diversion route is via Childs Lane, Newcastle Road (A34) and Sandbach Road (A534).
